Recently, an error message started popping up for many Swiss Manager users who tried to import the latest RSA rating list for November 2024. This is not the first time this bug has appeared. The most probable reason for the error is that the RSA rating list has grown larger than the record size allocated by Swiss Manager.

A Temporary Fix
Until a new Swiss Manager version is released, there is still a way that the rating list can be imported into Swiss Manager as a National Rating List instead.
Step 1
If you’ve attempted to import the RSA rating list, you will need to first remove the rating list file from the Swiss Manager directory. To do this, go to
C:\Users\{Username}\Documents\SwissManagerUniCode\ and delete the SCHACH.RSA file. Otherwise the error message will keep appearing every time you launch Swiss Manager.
Step 2
Launch Swiss Manager and go to Rating Lists > Import rating lists > Import Rating lists

Step 3
Under the Select rating list menu, select NAT for national rating list. Then under Select rating list file, press select and browse for your national rating list file. This file must be in Microsoft Excel format (.xls, .xlsx etc.). An example file (ratings_cfplay 2024/11/06) can be downloaded here.

Step 4
Click Start Import and then press OK once done.
This new rating list can now be used to add players to the playing list.
